A busy wee Wednesday for Blood Bikes Wales and duty controller Linda. The usual routine runs with Pete, Hugh and Don completed with great efficiency. Don then took on an urgent call to pick up medical equipment from Glan Clwyd hospital and transfer to Ysbyty Gwynedd. Not in any way related to the fact he was on our fabulous new bike and it’s a lovely day.
Chris, a new rider in Aberystwyth, very willingly took on a request to take urgent notes from Bronglais hospital to Tregaron hospital. Chris was only half way through his run when a call came through to take blood from Bronglais to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor. He didn’t hesitate. We organised a relay with Dave Tennant from our North West area. A rendezvous was arranged at Dolgellau for Chris and Dave to transfer the urgent bloods.
A cracking example of a fine team, a controller taking calls from multiple hospitals and arranging relays with riders from our different areas. And they’re all volunteers.
